Asbestos Report

"Always presume materials contain asbestos, unless you have strong evidence that they do not."- Health & Safety Executive

There are three main types of asbestos still found in premises today. These are commonly called 'blue asbestos' (crocidolite), 'brown asbestos' (amosite) and 'white asbestos' (chrysotile).

All of them are dangerous with blue and brown asbestos being much more hazardous than white - unfortunately you cannot identify them by their colour.

Although it is now illegal to use asbestos in any shape or form in the United Kingdom, of the thousands of tons that have been used in both commercial and domestic premises over many decades - a great deal is still in place.

As long as the asbestos is in good condition and is not being, or going to be, disturbed or damaged in any way whatsoever, there will be no risk to health. But if it is disturbed or damaged, it can become a danger to health, because life-threatening asbestos fibres could be released into the air putting people at risk when they breathe them in.
